Welcome us for this week's opponent spotlight, presented by Govi. Sal Capaccio, who works

0:43.8

Bill's sideline for Buffalo Bill's games and Sal, welcome back into the show, man. It's good to see you again.

0:48.9

Yeah, you too, Travis. I mean, a twice yearly occurrence. This time we're getting the

0:52.6

games out of the way a little bit earlier in the season than normal. Yeah, it's, I feel like a couple of years ago, it ended like right around Halloween time. I think it was like 2021. The Dolphins and Bill series was over, but usually it's like multiple primetime games, right, in the big spot. We had the one on Thursday already this year. What do you think the bills learned about the dolphins in that initial primetime game back in week three? Well, I think they learned that they're still really fast and they put a lot of speed on the field. And every time I talk to Sean McDermott about defending the dolphins, he always talks about defending every blade of grass, 53 and a third yards are going to spread you out. And they're going to be able to run through seams and have obviously a lot of speed at the running back position, the wide receiver position. And the bills have a healthy respect for what they bring on the offensive side. And it's funny, even against Kansas City, I do Sean McDermott's weekly radio interview. And I mentioned what they do. He actually unpromptly brought up the dolphins and how similar they are to try to defend them.

1:44.3

So I think that that's what they learned, that the dolphins are, they're going to lean into that, no doubt about it. And obviously, you know, I know they now just traded jail and Phillips, but they still have guys that can get to the passer. And that's something the bills always are aware of. So you talk about Sean McDermott's defense. That's something I wanted to talk to you about later on in interview, but I'll go ahead and get to it right now because, you know,

2:03.5

this is probably a case of me being too online, Sal, and seeing like negative tweets every January

2:09.7

after the bills losing the playoffs about like Sean McDermott's defense and whatnot. And Sunday,

2:15.6

they had two drives back to back with Patrick Mahomes having

2:18.8

the football in his hands and a chance to either tie or win the game. And they got some big

2:23.5

stops there. So I wanted to give you a chance to kind of talk about how this defense is playing

2:26.7

this year, especially against one of the league's best last week in KC. So I don't know if it's

2:31.1

much of a storyline around the league, but it is here. And it's how this defense has kind of changed the last few weeks because Sean McTermis had a bigger hand in the play calling.

2:40.9

Now, he hasn't outright admitted or said that he is calling the plays, but it appears he's calling the plays now, Travis.

2:46.6

And that means taking it away basically from Bobby Babich.

2:50.0

But he, in a Bobby Bash, we've been together a long time.
