If you've been listening to us for 15 years or so, you were listening live on air as we

came to terms with the idea that the internet was taking over, taking journalism over, and

it started with deadspin, doing journalism a little bit differently than it had been

done, taking away some of the shine from newspaper reporters in a way that was interesting.

So we decided, as we've seen, that deadspin has basically been gutted in spirit and gutted

in spirit in a way that is impossible to miss when you look at the people who left deadspin

because they weren't down with the idea of corporate management coming over and taking

the deadspin name and turning it into something that was more corporate than the initial idea.

We had Drew McGarry and Tommy Crags, two of the really strong original voices on deadspin

together on a conversation that we wanted to have about just that time in journalism

at deadspin and everything that's happened at deadspin since then.

They're very smart people.

Drew, I love when he writes angry.

Tommy, I love when he writes at all.

Here is that conversation reminiscing about a different time and a different deadspin.

So Tommy, what would you say was the best time at deadspin, the time that you were having

the most fun, the time that you got the electricity of like, oh, we're doing some pioneering stuff

around here.

Well, I guess I would say it was probably the period between the Bret Far Post when Agedilario

was still the editor of deadspin and maybe around the time of the man's ito post, which
