It happened during the summer holidays of sixth grade. My friends H and T were playing in Sunoda Forest, when H suggested they visit the abandoned

house towards the rear.

We often played in the forest at the time, but only to jump from the small cliffs facing

the path, or to hang from the vines and pretend we were Tarzan.

We never actually went further into the forest.

Of course, we knew about the abandoned house back there, and there were rumors that some of the

braver kids from school snuck in there and saw something one time.

The sun was still high in the sky, but T was kind of a coward, so he apparently said they

shouldn't go near it.

H ignored him, however, and in the end went there by himself, while T waited for him by the

small cliffs.
