Tell us why you decided to write this book. I have always wanted to write a book, just like so

many people would come up to me and say that they had always wanted to be a veterinarian.

But as a veterinarian, for me and for many of us, it's more than a job. It's more than even a

profession. It's how I identify myself. And all of my time is spent doing veterinary medicine.

I never could even imagine doing something else or having room for something else. When I was diagnosed, I took

to emailing a bunch of friends and family members to let them know how I was faring because

at the time I didn't have any social media. And it just drained me to have the stories, you know,

about my chemotherapy or surgery told over and over.

Many people would write back kind words, words of support, which became a lifeline for me.
