The International Vaccine Institute was established in 1997 as an initiative of the United Nations Development Program. Its mission is to discover, developed, and deliver safe, effective, and affordable
1:12.8	vaccines for global public health. Dr. Kim has a BA from the University of Hawaii and an MD
1:19.5	from the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his training in internal medicine
1:24.8	and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the Duke University
1:28.5	Medical Center. He was the principal deputy and chief at the Laboratory of Molecular
1:33.8	Virology and Pathogenesis at the Military HIV Research Program. He also served as the
1:40.5	project manager for the HIV vaccines and advanced concepts evaluation project
1:45.9	management offices. He led the Army's Phase 3 HIV vaccine trial, RV 144, the first
1:53.7	demonstration that an HIV vaccine could protect against the infection. He has authored over 200
1:59.8	publications. He was named one of the 50 most
2:03.4	influential people in vaccines in 2004 by the Vaccine Industry Organization, Vaccine Nation.
