Seems everywhere I go, people are asking me about the Royals in a new downtown stadium and what I think will happen,

and is this a good thing? And I always repeat a

standard line that the time to build the downtown ballpark was 15 years ago when the renovations

were taking place and we were passing $250 million for each team and things cost half as

much then as they do now. That was the time to build the downtown ballpark.

It would not have been much different than a ballpark that's being built today or considered

today.

And it would not, the land that they're looking at on the east part of downtown inside the

loop was available then, just as it is now.

So clearly the time to build the downtown ballpark was 15 years ago.

That was a different owner, a different time that was David Glass, and he was too cheap to do it. He did not want to put any of his own money in it. So that will be our big topic after a weekend where the Royals actually won a series. And not to take too much away from the field, but we had a wonderful day here at the house yesterday. my sister and her husband came by and my mom was here and we had the Royals on on the deck. And we sat outside and we had

a great American early summer. I know it's not summer yet, but an early summer day, lemonade,

cheeseburgers, hot dogs, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw. It was just a fantastic day

where time flew by and we did very little of anything other than just chat and enjoy a lazy

day. And we had the Royals on the TV on the deck with no sound and then and then low sound. The Royals were building a 6-0

lead. My mom was very excited. And of course, they blew the 6-0 lead inexplicably in an inning

where they gave up seven runs. And Mike Mathini basically sat on the first step of the dugout

and didn't do much to change any pitchers or slow or stop the bleeding.

And it just looked like a disastrous Royals loss. And then Salvador Perez gets a big hit in the ninth inning to score two runs. The Royals go up six nothing in the game. They blow the lead seven, six, then get two in the ninth to win it. And I said to my mom, and, you know, she looks at all these games. She just loves the Royals. And so does my sister. And she looks a lot of them the same way.

And I said, you know, that was really a good win. And I don't mean that in the text of the context of this is a big win. Like here come the Royals, they're going to go win the division now or something great is going to happen. I simply said if you're looking for something good about the Royals,
