We've probably got something in common, which is that over the last month and a half

we've been watching the news wondering why it doesn't answer some of the most basic

questions about the history of Israel and Palestine. Why did the Zionists use the Holy Land out of all the

territories on the planet to try and form a Jewish majority state? What happened after the

Oslo Accords? why were Hamas founded and what changed about their charter since the

1980s? Well, luckily, those questions aren't going to go unanswered for long. I'm joined by Rashid Kaleidi, author of the 100

years war on Palestine, to do a deep dive into over 100 years of history. What was Palestine before 1948? What was its status and who was

there? Before 1948, for about 30 years,

Palestine had been under British control

in the

form of an occupation and a mandate from the League of Nations.

The mandate was to rule a country in which the overwhelming majority of the population were Palestinian Arabs,

and a small but increasing proportion were Jews, and more and more of those, that population was made up of immigrants who were brought in by under under the terms of the mandate.
