The best way of underpinning any kind of potential resistance to a very toxic establishment

without being a populist anti-establishment

and by supporting good irrational humanist causes is to support left-wing media like Novaria media.

Novara media and all such media need your support because they certainly did not have the support of the establishment.

Cap a dim. I'm sitting here just two days after the Labour Party whipped its MPs to abstain on

an S&P motion calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

And today I'm going to talk to one of the Labour Party's MPs who defied the party instructions

to abstain and instead voted with her conscience.

Zara Sultana has been the representative of Coventry South

for just about four years.

And in that time, she has experienced a wave of abuse, both misogynistic and racist that many of us would struggle to cope with.

We're talking about what that's been like for her, what the response of the Labour Party has been,

and whether or not it has a problem with institutional Islamophobia.

So we're speaking on Friday and on Wednesday night there was the S&P amendment to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. How did it feel emotionally for you to see so many of your colleagues abiding by the whip to abstain.

It's interesting because when I was in the lobby,

I was surprised by how many of us there were.

I didn't think that we would have over 100 MPs from the opposition, the SMP, the Lib Dems, including Labour Party MPs as well,

vote the correct way I believe.

So I was pleasantly surprised, I was talking to other colleagues there. There were people we were quite surprised to see they're pleasantly surprised

Obviously heavily disappointed that that motion was not carried because it's so important when war crimes are being committed in Gaza that the British Parliament takes the correct stand in the demonstration outside parliament which was incredible

thousands of people had attended that evening to call on their own peace to do the right thing
