0:35.6	How you doing? I'm pretty good. I'm on holiday. I'm feeling good. Good. And I gather you're in New Orleans, which is relevant to what we're going to talk about, as you know. Definitely, yeah. The scene of intrigue. Yeah. So let me introduce this. I'm Robert Wright, publisher of the Non-Zero Newsletter. This is the Non-Zero podcast. You're Jefferson Morley, publisher of the JFK Fax newsletter. I'm very excited about this conversation. Because I only recently descended down the JFK assassination rabbit hole. Okay.
1:14.1	You understand why you haven't until now.
1:19.4	Well, we can talk about that and how I did descend finally. But what's interesting about you to me is, like some other people, you know, you spent a lot of time thinking about this.
1:29.2	You do think probably, although you're careful, I think about drawing firm conclusions,
1:34.8	you do think probably there was a conspiracy.
1:37.2	Probably some people in the U.S. government were involved.
1:41.0	Unlike a lot of people who fit that description, you're also a very accomplished
1:46.9	journalist. You've written a number of highly regarded books, some of which are relevant to this.
1:51.5	One of them is called The Ghost about James Jesus Angleton, who figures in the story a little,
1:58.2	who was head of CIA counterintelligence, another one called Our Man in Mexico, about Winston Scott, CIA Station Chief, who also figures into this story.
2:07.3	A book called CIA and JFK, The Secret Assassination Files, obvious relevance.
2:12.3	A book called Scorpions Dance, the president to spy master in Watergate, not so relevant.
2:20.5	But not as relevant as the others, but unless I've got that wrong. Do I have they wrong? No, no, less relevant than the
2:26.7	others, but the third book, Scorpion's Dance, is about the CIA and Watergate and really about Dick
2:32.6	Helms and Dick Nixon.
2:40.8	And I would say that it's the aftershocks of JFK assassination reverberate through the Nixon era and through the politics between the White House and the CIA in that era.
2:44.6	So there is a kind of JFK echo in Scorpion's dance.
2:49.3	And Helms was the CIA director at the time of the assassination?
2:53.4	He was the deputy director at the time of the assassination.
