Good afternoon, Michael Malice here. Let that be your welcome for the next hour. We have with us a long awaited special returning guest Douglas Murray has new book War on the West is out now.

I'm very excited to have you join us again. This is a topic that has been brewing for a couple of decades. Can you tell us, you know, for people unfamiliar with your work, what is the thesis of this new book?

0:46.0

First of all, great to be with you again. I so enjoyed our last podcast and I'm looking forward to this very much. Yes, the war on the West is about the war on absolutely everything to do with the Western traditions going on has been going on as you say brewing away for a couple of decades and more.

1:05.0

It's it's features, I say, our first of all, the war on the peoples of the West, including the war on white people where the only group in societies like America where you're allowed to speak, you know, viciously, unpleasantly, reprehensibly with a generalizing tendency, all that something is against white people.

1:25.0

You know, if you wanted to for some reason carry out an ideological attack on the underpinnings of a country in Africa, you would probably end up trying to carry out a war against the history and the peoples of that place.

1:41.0

It would be a war on on the group there, same thing with China, same thing to any other group. The West is still majority white and for some reason it has become in our day permissible to speak about that white majority in ways which are just absolutely vile.

1:59.0

It's the only legitimate racism in our time and so that's the first thing. The second thing is just the war on our history where everything in Western history is torn down.

2:09.0

You know, the founding fathers all racist Abraham Lincoln's a racist. Everybody in our past is racist. Everybody is is smeared with colonialism or slavery as if as if our country in the West were the only people who ever did anything bad in history and everyone else was, you know, sort of living in Eden until the wicked Westerner came along.

2:31.0

Can I interject? Yeah, there's no calls to tear down the pyramids in Egypt. No, no, I mean, who do you think put those up? Do you think they were paid a fair days wage for a fair days work? No, it was built by slaves.

2:47.0

So it's very strange. It's like only one group has this being done to them and does it to themselves. You know, the Chinese don't want to think badly of their history.

2:59.0

Africans don't think you want to think badly of their history. They might might otherwise dwell on the fact that they sold their brothers and sisters into slavery, which as Voltaire said was possibly the only crime even worse than what the Europeans did to Africans.

3:13.0

So most people want to think one of themselves. It's only the West does this itself. Then there's the war on Western religion, the war on Western traditions of, first of all, religionically, obviously, the Judeo-Christian tradition, but also the secular tradition where all the secular thinkers of the past who we rely on,

3:31.0

people brought us the ideas of reason and rationalism are all also brought down because they're besmirched with racism, colonialism, the same tedious but very, very deadly set of sins.

3:43.0

And then the war on Western culture, where just everything now in the culture, as you know, from any film, any streaming services, product, any novel, any play, any, any art collection,

4:00.0

any theater or music is all played through this race lens. You know, Baroque ensembles have to find black Baroque composers or be deemed, you know, dealing only in the work of that terrible thing, dead white men.

4:17.0

And I always say, Michael, people who combine three terrible traits, one being white, one being male, and the third unforgivable one of having died, because who would do that? What kind of a loser?

4:32.0

So, you know, these are some of the foundations of what I think is going on. But as you say, it's really interesting is it's been brewing underneath us for quite a while now.

4:42.0

So that perfectly sets up my next question, because I'm very curious to see where you think the roots of this are. And if you had to ask me, I would point my fingers across the pond to you and the Fabians.

4:54.0

And you had this kind of left, leftism, it's like psychologically is loves the out group loves the outsider.

5:02.0

These are Belgian chocolates or these South American grapes, just inherently, because they're from another place, they must be better, right.

5:07.0

It's just this kind of love of, oh, you haven't heard the Swedish seven inch bad record. I just got it's terrific.
