Hello there, I'm Chuck Todd. This is the Chuck Todd cast. It is Friday, June 17th. I throw

the date out there because as of today, we have gotten through three of the January 6th

Select Committee hearings. We've seen testimony from advisors who tried to talk former President

Trump into accepting the results of the 2020 election, heard about others who tried to inflame

his conspiratorial tendencies, and learned greater detail about the pressure campaign on the

former Vice President Mike Pence to reject the results. So, does any of this add up to legal

exposure? I guess today is Doug Jones. He's a former senator from Alabama, but for that,

he was sum up famously the US Attorney for the Northern Region of the state. More, most

recently, he was the White House's advisor to help shepherd through Katanji Brown-Jackson

nomination in the Supreme Court. And, you know, if Joe Biden really doesn't like him, he

may make him a attorney general and have to deal with this. So, it's Senator Doug Jones,

it's good to see you.

Todd, Chuck, it's great to see you. Thanks for having me all.

So I want to start with, you did, and I'm curious if the type of parallels is the wrong

word, but when you decided to prosecute the Birmingham Church Bombing case, which at

the time was 30 years old when you pursued it, is that right? In some ways, it is a similar

decision as to, it's justice, it's delayed justice, but it's justice, nonetheless, it's

proof that no one's ever above the law. So I guess, is there a mindset that you had in

pursuing that, that if this were on your plate, whether it's an attorney general or a

US attorney, given the evidence you've seen so far presented against Donald Trump, would

you feel like you'd have to take up that case?
