Hello from Washington, I'm Chuck Todd, and this is the Chuck Todd cast.

So it is now official.

We have our nominees.

No Chicago in Milwaukee are no longer going to be interesting

storylines. I'm talking about the conventions. Both conventions are now going to

fully be about three things. Number one, the vice presidential speeches. I'm going to throw out an idea

that nobody ever does, but if Trump were truly a showman he would do this which is let

your convention pick the running mate. It's risky but it

would actually bring attention to the convention in a way that would be unique.

People give this advice to presidential nominees especially the challengers all the time, and they never

take it. And I suspect Trump is too much of a control freak to do that. But it is an idea that sits

out there. Right after the, imagine the timing, you'd have the the Paris Olympics then he can have his little you know

Gold Silver and Bronze Contest turn it into a reality show. We'd all the mainstream media would mock it

But it would probably play better than people realize.

That'd be about the only way he could make the conventions interesting beyond watching

the two nomination acceptance speeches because those will be the largest audiences probably for the campaign season because I am a

pessimist on whether we see presidential debates. So I think the likelihood is those two

acceptance speeches might be the two of the biggest

audiences left for both Trump and Biden to make their case. Maybe we'll get some

back-to-back appearances at a presidential forum in a September or October, you know, Q&As like that. We saw that with Trump and Clinton. a We're now in the rhythms of the general election and what you saw this week, this

last couple of weeks, Biden traveling to swing stakes two or three times a week,

the vice president traveling probably four or five times a week.
