with the guys in the community. Hello again everyone welcome back to software. I'm your host today, Steve Balschery, joining me. We have a great guest today. A lot of you people who follow the NFL will know our guest today Donnie Edwards played 14 years in the NFL.

Most of it with the, well I want to say it was almost pretty much split between the San Diego charges in the Kansas City Chiefs.

He played 14 years.

He was a, I'd say without trying to be too rude an undersized linebacker, but he remained remarkably healthy for his career until his final year in the NFL.

And since then, he's started his own foundation for the to support the military called the best defense foundation.

We're going to talk a little bit about that. We're going to talk some football. We're going to talk about a little bit about his personal life. And but before we go any further, we have to welcome him to the podcast. Donnie, we really appreciate you taking the time today. It's a dream come true for me because like I said I'm a football fanatic so I remember in your playing days. You were a guy I always wanted on my team.

Yeah, I'm sure you're a Patriots fan of course, right?

Living in that New England area yeah yeah

East Coast yeah absolutely and you know I have to ask you before we get into all

this back in the day when you were playing around the 2000 I want to say

2004 through 2007 time frame there was always these rumors that the Patriots were trying to bring you on board.

Did you ever hear anything that they were trying to trade for you or did they ever approach you

in a contract year to maybe come up to New England and play in the approach you know

know maybe come up to New England and play in the snow?

You know what I'm trying to remember now because I remember when I was

leaving in 2006 after I left to San Diego Chargers after going 14 and 2 and probably arguably one of the best teams I've ever played on for sure with L.T. and Philip and the whole crew and Sean Merrim and everybody.

I thought that, if I remember correctly, I think the New England Patriots were potentially looking

at me, I believe.

And I remember I wanted a multi-year deal and I think they're only offering a one-year deal
