In December 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice concluded that women at Lowell Prison in Florida, quote unquote, remain at substantial risk of sexual abuse at the hands of staff, describing an overall system that's plagued by the R word that rhymes with gray, beatings, and retaliation.

So at 76 years old, Donna Adelson could be walking into one of the most notorious prisons for women in the entire country.

But first, Donna Adelson, 76 years old. You guys heard the verdict. Guilty on all three counts,

including first degree murder. And unlike other states, murder in Florida is life. And they

mean life without the possibility of parole. Donna Adelson is likely headed to a place called

Lowell Correctional Institution.

It is Florida's massive but troubled women's prison, has a population of nearly 3,000, which is quite large,

with a legacy of abuse scandals,

dangerous living conditions,

including no air conditioning and sweltering heat.

And it's going to be real rough for her.

So what is it going to be like for her on the inside?

We are joined by some former inmates to discuss all of this.
