Good morning my friends or good afternoon or good evening whatever time of day it is I'm

thankful that you have joined me for the morning mindset. This really is an honor that

I get to walk us through the scriptures day by day as we seek to line our minds up with the truth of God.

1st Peter chapter 4. We're looking at verse number 12 today.

And verse number 12, the first word in the verse is the word beloved and it's funny how one word can

give you a huge impression about something but this verse and this word does that

for me in this particular verse because Peter, if you remember the story from the New Testament, was a fisherman.

He's a real man, a blue collar worker, a guy who was out there sweating and

and parched by the sun some days, enduring storms, other days, he was

assault of the earth kind of a guy. And he's not the kind of person I would picture using a

word like beloved. And yet here in verse 12 he starts out this sentence

beloved. Do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you.

You see, Peter has this soft, compassionate, connecting bent to him and that may be a change that came about as he

came to know Jesus Christ. That's a little bit of assumption there because I don't know Peter before and

after Christ. But I just love that he uses this word, beloved, because it shows that he had a tender spot in his heart for other

believers and I wonder if you do I wonder if I do enough. When my wife and I

travel we meet people quite often obviously and there are times that

we meet others and it comes up in the conversation that they are a believer in Christ.

I hope with all my being that when I hear that someone else is a believer in Christ,

something stirs in me, that is a sense of brotherly love, it's a sense of compassion for that person in a different sort of way,

because they are a fellow brother or sister in Christ.
