Summary

Think of the last time you felt sad about feeling sad, or anxious about your anxiety. We love to prescribe thoughts to our negative emotions, but our thinking keeps stoking the fire. If we can stop thinking about our feelings, they’ll die down on their own. Today, try to notice your moods or emotions, and allow your thoughts about those feelings go. 1:20.8

We feel anxious about feeling anxious.

1:23.8

We feel sad about sadness, and you'll maybe recognize this in your own life.

1:29.0

We do it all the time, and there's a reason we do it, and we'll get into that in just

1:33.6

a moment.

1:34.6

But without the thoughts, without the thinking, without the engagement of thinking, we need

1:40.5

to fuel the emotion with our thinking in order to sort of maintain it, to keep it alive.
