Heavenly Father, thank you so much for providing for us, Lord, all of our needs and for taking care of us.

And, man, I just think about the grace that you show us every day, Lord.

Thank you for this time that we can come together and worship and praise your holy name, Lord.

And thank you for the word.

Lord? May we hear what it is that you have for us. And we ask this in the mighty name of Jesus.

We say, amen. Amen. Good morning and welcome. So glad you're here. Want to welcome those of you.

You can be seated. You can stand if you want. For those of you joining us online, we want to welcome you as well. We're so glad that you are.

We are continuing our verse by verse study through 2nd Peter last week. We completed chapter 1.

Today we're going to commence in chapter 2. Just the first three verses will be our

text today. So I'll ask those of you that are here if you're able, if not where you're

seated is fine, to stand. You can follow along as I read the words. So that's why you should

have probably just stay standing, I guess. I don't know. So the Apostle Peter now, and I want to

preface the reading of the text today with just this reminder. These are the final parting

words of the Apostle Peter. This is, if you will, his last will and testament.

And so why is that important? Because of all the things that he could have talked about,

he talks about what we're going to see here in these verses. In other words, this rises to the level of that importance. So verse one.

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.

They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign

Lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many, verse 2, will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way

of truth into disrepute. In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up, myths.

Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
