Look at how wonderful Dominion can be when it is done according to the pattern God gave us.

Christ-like Dominion rules through loving sacrifice, not tyranny.

Too many Christians have conflated Dominion with oppressive rule. Let's see how much we can exploit

those we rule over with brute force. But Christian Dominion is servant-like, giving

and not exploitive. It cleanses and washes and beautifies. A husband that exercises this kind of

headship makes his wife thrive and flourish and become more fruitful. Through his sacrificial

love and leadership, she also grows more radiant and beautiful.

Our Dominion over creation should follow a similar pattern because that is God's character.

Biblical Dominion over creation should have lovely results if we follow the same pattern.

We are to exercise Dominion over the living world, whether it's just our pets, our backyard,

our garden, our farm and livestock, whether it's our city parks or

national parks, so that whatever is entrusted to our care can thrive and never

languish or be ruined or squandered. It should be made more beautiful and flourish, just like a cherished wife.

I'm not advocating veganism or vegetarianism due to a sentimentalized view of animals

where hunting big game or slaughtering livestock is frowned upon.

Not at all. It is lawful to eat meat and supply that demand as a rancher or an avid hunter.

The point is to exercise Dominion in such a way that what belongs to us is cared for.

God blesses obedience.

Jacob's flocks thrived and increased because of God's blessing.

But at the same time God uses means.

Jacob slaughtered and ate from his flocks, but he also knew and cared for their needs.

He led them to good pasture and watered them.
