I just want a president.

0:02.1

I don't have to talk about in theory.

0:03.2

I don't want a president where I'm going to my doctor and I'm like, the stress of this administration is causing me an illness. Yeah, I don't have to be on medication. Hi, everybody. Welcome back to Older and Wilder with Joy and Claire. We're so glad you're here. We have so many updates. So many updates. I'm sure last week everyone was like, because so much happened on our stories last week, but we didn't record about the updates. And so I'm sure everyone's like, what? What is happening? We wanted to wait. We wanted to hard launch and wait in hard launch Haynes because we needed to make sure everything was going to work out. Like you don't want to jinx that kind of thing. I didn't want to talk about it in case it didn't work out. Really the main thing that we didn't know is if he was going to get along with River, our current, our existing dog. And River is so sweet and dumb. We had no concerns that she wasn't going to get along with him. But she is a very hard player. Like she plays very hard with other dogs. And so we were like, I don't know, she might be too much for him. And she's not. They're the best. They are currently wrestling very, very hard downstairs. I tried to get their energy matches. Energy matches. I was like getting them out of the room and bringing them downstairs. And Haynes just now used the opportunity of running down the stairs to launch himself into Zoomings. He just like took the momentum from the stairs and just launched himself into the living room. So it's going great. It's chaotic, but it's great. So the story behind Haynes, because I've gotten a lot of DMs this week being like, hey, how do I,

1:28.2

I would love a service dog dropout. How do I get on the list? And the truth is that it's sort of an

1:33.6

anomaly that I as a lay person was able to do this. Normally, right, Joy, the people who are able to

1:40.8

get service dog dropout is not the right way to say it the change of career

1:44.4

dogs yes a release dog change a career dog they just like for whatever reason the service dog life

1:50.7

was not going to be for them and as we if you listened to joy this is joy and claire you know that

happened with one of joy's pups joe like what was that a year and a half ago about yeah Where he was actually too sensitive to keep going all the way through training. He just like the corrections that they were just a little bit too hard on him. He just, he like, not that they were like being mean to him, but he just took it real, real personally. Yes, the level of intensity of training. He was like, not for me. Not for me. I'm just a little, I'm just a little baby.

2:18.3

So, yeah. I think Haynes was like, I just, I'm too excited to be here. And I just have too

2:24.8

much love to give. Very excited to be here. Always focused on the excitement of life and maybe a

2:32.3

little distracted from the service dog life, which is,

2:36.0

you know, it's a high bar.

2:37.6

It's such a high bar.

2:39.1

Such a high bar.

2:40.2

And it has so much to do with just their personalities.

2:42.8

And I've said it a million times.

2:44.5

But the Canaan Companions does such an amazing job of matching dogs to humans.

2:51.3

And also during training, making sure that they are appropriate for the level of training,

2:56.1

if they're ever exhibiting signs of stress that just aren't workable,

3:00.5

meaning pushing them will do more harm than good.

3:03.2

Like there's a difference between challenging a dog because you know that they can do it versus
