Zoe brings the case against her mom, Rochelle.

They brought home a new puppy last summer, and Zoe took the lead in training and caring

for the dog until she left for college.

Now Zoe is thousands of miles away, but wants to retain her say in the puppy's day-to-day

life.

Her mom says Zoe needs to stop meddling from afar.

Judge John Hodgman took no interest in guest bailiff Scott Adset's introductions.

He said that the education of the young was more important than anything that could be

done for those who were already grown up and introduced.

It happened that Jesse and Bluebell had both welped soon after the hay harvest, giving

birth to them nine sturdy puppies.

As soon as they were weaned, Judge John Hodgman took the puppies away from their mothers,

saying that he would make himself responsible for their education.

He took them up to a loft which could only be reached by a ladder from his chambers, and

there kept them in such seclusion that the rest of the court soon forgot their existence.

Guest bailiff Scott Adset was left with nothing to do but to swear them in.
