I feel like men are a little bit kinder to themselves about their bodies.

0:10.3

How do you feel about yours?

0:11.3

Yeah, I guess we are.

0:12.3

I think that's why I'm in a way a little bit relieved.

0:14.1

I've got a son and not a daughter,

0:15.2

because I think it's slightly easier as a man, really, with regards to that.

0:18.8

So, yeah, I've always been very thin and very scrawny.

0:22.5

And not only recently have I sort of begin to bulk up a little bit, but I've never really

0:26.7

minded the way that I've looked. And I think I'm very aware that that is a privilege, you know,

0:31.7

to not hate elements of my body. I've got a huge nose that hasn't changed from drinking less.

0:37.2

Yeah, I had no, so. Getting in the way. I've got a huge nose that hasn't changed from drinking less. Yeah, I had

0:37.5

noticed that. It's getting in the way. I'm miles away from this, Mike. So that's not going to

0:44.5

change. It's not really that big. It's not really that thing. It does feel good, though, to know that

0:49.7

I am as fit and I guess as musseling as I've probably ever been, while still being a dad and being

0:55.7

busier than I've ever been with three jobs. So that there's a level of sort of pride in the

1:00.0

fact that I'm happy with the way I look, even though life has changed significantly in the last

1:04.7

few months. I wonder if people sometimes drink because they're not happy about the way they look,

1:10.0

which is a shame, isn't it? And it's a snowball. It's a snowball. Yeah. Because the worse you look. Yeah. And then you're going to be drinking more. And yeah. It's a vicious cycle. It really is. Actually, I think people do it not only because of that, but also they think if I drink, then I'm not hungry. Okay. Yeah. People get, you know, skip dinner and get hammering overnight out and dance. I'm sweet, I'm not hungry. Okay. So, you know, people get, you know, skip dinner and get hammering overnight out and dance.

1:30.4

Yeah, sweet, I'm not eating.

1:31.3

I've got no calories in me. Well, I've drunk all my calories rather than eating them. Yes, yes. Doesn't make any difference. You're still going to feel like shit and look awful the next day. We do go out on one of those nights. Well, look at any gap year student.

1:41.4

All of us ate very little and drunk a lot and all of us pot and weight.

1:45.8

If you want to have a look at proof that drinking puts on weight, look at a gap year student at the end of their six months in Thailand. Compared to the beginning, you can see it. And I just let onion rings a lot. I used to see everything in the deep fat fry when I was at uni. It was like shove it in the deep fat fry. We'll eat that. then we'll go and get pissed. No wonder we look like bloaters. Yeah, it didn't look great, do we? So let's head under the skin now, deeper into the nitty gritty of who we are as people. Another weird and wonderful side effect of no longer downing pints at the pub is how you evolve as a human being. When you get sober, you feel and care more, and that has lots of positive fallout for you and everyone around you. So true. I never knew that humans were capable of growing, Hamish. I mean, today is a perfect example of that, our breathing session. You look like you never stopped going, actually. That's just an erection. Oh, right, that's all right then. I thought that was your known. I thought you were just born who you are and you were intended to be that way forevermore and that people never altered. I sort of accepted my own fate, Hamish. I'm a drinker, I'm a partier, I'm a people pleaser. I'm shit with money. All of those things.
