Hi, this is Reset and I'm Siegel Samuel filling in for Ariel Jim Ross.

I'm a staff writer for Vox and I focus on technology and artificial

intelligence and how they affect vulnerable populations for better and worse. Today we're going to talk about how tech is being used

to monitor and treat the coronavirus outbreak

where it all began in China.

China's response to the virus has been very techie.

They've used robots that disinfect hospital rooms,

drones that yell at you if you're not wearing a mask,

facial recognition cameras that tip off police that you might have a fever.

This sort of tech could help minimize the risks of a pandemic,

and even if it costs people their privacy,

maybe that's okay if it lets them keep something more valuable,

their lives, right?
