Dr. Leighton Flowers walks through some recent exchanges on Twitter X after producing a poll which asked...
TRUE OR FALSE: "IF CALVINISM IS TRUE, then my unwillingness to adopt Calvinism is just as under the sovereign control of God as the reprobate’s unwillingness to adopt Christianity."
An overwhelming majority of Calvinists replied "true" and Dr. James White even engaged by adding: "And if Calvinism is true, then Herod, and Pontius Pilate, and the Romans and the Jews, did what they did in the crucifixion of Jesus freely and responsibly, and were held accountable for doing so, and, what they did was "whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur" (Acts 4:28). As I have said for almost a decade now, we believe all the Bible says, you believe some of what the Bible says, and reject the rest."
This sounds like something we should discuss, since once again White implicitly admits that he believes God deceives His own children (all non-Calvinists) by determining us to reject Calvinism and White actually employs a proof-text about God using pagans in their already rebellious condition to bring about redemption for the whole world as His evidence of this!

0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to sociology 101. |
0:13.5 | Today we're going to be talking about some recent Twitter exchanges where I put up a poll asking a, I think a very good question, because it really helps us to look into the insight of what is referred to as theistic determinism, which is the philosophical underpinning of the Calvinistic worldview. |
0:30.8 | Now, we've said this a thousand times and we'll probably say it a thousand more times, trying to be fair to our Calvinistic friends. |
0:37.0 | Not all Calvinists are the |
0:38.2 | same. They are not a monolithic group, as you've heard me say. And so not all Calvinists say that they |
0:44.2 | affirm fistic determinism. Some of them say, well, I'm not a determinist. I'm a compatibilist. We've gone |
0:48.8 | over that before that compatibilism is an affirmation of determinism, but it's saying that determinism is compatible with human |
0:55.6 | responsibility. And that's where we push back. We don't think that the Bible teaches it, |
1:00.1 | nor do we think it's tenable or even rational, to say that something is determined, but also |
1:05.7 | free. In other words, if God is determining your choices, your decisions, your desires, |
1:11.6 | and then holding you accountable for those things, we don't find that to be tenable, workable, we don't find |
1:16.2 | it to be biblical. |
1:17.7 | It's certainly not intuitive. |
1:19.6 | Even by Calvinist own admission like R.C. Spruill and others have admitted it goes against |
1:25.0 | all intuition. |
1:27.2 | But the reason they hold to it is because they think it's the biblically taught position. |
1:31.4 | And that's where we push back. |
1:32.6 | And that's why we have started this program, Sociology 101, to go back to the basics of sociology, |
1:37.4 | which is, I think, the foundational basics of sociology is that God loves you. |
1:43.1 | He wants you to be saved. No one perishes for a lack of |
1:46.7 | atonement. No one perishes because God didn't want them or God didn't love them. If you end up in |
1:51.5 | hell is that's Paul says, you perish because you refuse to love the truth so as to be saved. |
