Hello and welcome to Not Another One, and it is another one because this is our weekend edition, where we kick back and a bit more discursive about what's going on. And we're going

to talk about a really serious topic in the background ever since Labor came to power in July,

which is this question of whether the government has the right attitude to poverty and to the

poor and whether, in fact, anyone in British politics now is trying to

address this perennial problem in the right way. But before we get into that, I've had a really

interesting week because I had a lot of responses to something I wrote about loneliness and

community cafes being taken away as the supermarket shut them and

how this leaves a kind of hole where the generations used to interact and lots of people

got in touch saying this kind of degrading of local communities is something that brings

a lot of sadness and where's the solution.

And it made me think that I should ask you two, actually.
