I welcome Tom Maudley, my colleague.

He's the author of Vectors, Heroes, Villains, and Heartbreak on the Bridge of the U.S. Navy.

Tom is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

He also studied at Georgetown.

He was the 33rd Undersecretary of the Navy,

and Acting Secretary of the Navy during the COVID pandemic crisis,

is now here to help me understand news in the building,

which is non-transparent to an amateur such as myself.

The new president has named, as nominated, an Air Force General retired three-star

named John Daniel Raisin Kane, F-16 pilot, and you get a

call sign, Raisin Kane. General Kane is the man who, along with others on 9-11, commanded

F-16s that were armed, F-16s that had orders at their choice to shoot down

Flight 93, which was presumed to be headed for the Capitol.

That did not happen.

Flight 93 was brought down by its passengers, very bravely.

General Kane went on to serve honorably.

He was involved in inherent resolve against ISIS in the first Trump administration, and he's now nominated to be

the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, replacing another F-16 pilot, FCQ Brown. There's also

been another change at the Joint Chiefs. Admiral Franquette has been
