I'm John Bachelors, the Chinese Communist Party, the People's Liberation Army, the DF-21

D-anti-ship ballistic missile, the DF-17 hypersonic missile.

I learned from a new article from Mark Montgomery and his colleague Bryce Mitchell, both of

the foundation for the defensive democracies, in the Cypher Brief, that those two missiles

extremely threatening are the product of an investment campaign by the CCP over many

years, totaling $700 billion.

What about the US side of investment in hardware that can match the hypersonic missile DF-17?

The short answer is no.

It's disappointing.

The Chinese vary wisely.

They looked after a very embarrassing incident in 1995, where we were able to put multiple

carries in the Taiwan Straits and around Taiwan.

They made a concerted effort over 25 years to assess vulnerabilities and potential vulnerabilities

in US systems, determine whether the US had strengths that they had to combat, and they

then very carefully invested over 25 years.

As you said, $700 billion into creating their own asymmetric strengths.
