When the son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Lord, I believe, help thou mine unbelief.

May our testimonies be as deep and as strong as that of Jacob, who was confronted by one who sought to destroy his face declared,

I could not be shaken. Hey everybody I'm Jared Halverson and this is Unshaken and we've got some amazing scripture study ahead of us this week.

I hope that you've been falling in love with the doctrine of covenants as much as I have

this year.

This incredible off-neglected book of scripture written not only for our day but in our day. We're not that far removed from

this period whether in time or in circumstance. And I hope that you're getting a

sense of that and seeing the relevance of this book of scripture to each of us.

As I mentioned in our first episode,

if you study the doctrine and covenants quickly,

which admittedly we're not doing when we take a verse by verse approach,

but if you were to back up and just fly over the whole thing as quickly as you possibly could you would see this time-lapse photography growth of the kingdom of God and nowhere is that more clear than in these beginning sections of the doctrine covenants,

these earliest revelations, line upon line just laying out the groundwork for this dispensation.

Section 1, let me get your attention, hearken to my words. I am God and I am speaking again.

Section 2, let's put all of this in the context of the covenant. Hearts are turning

in fathers to children, the seat of Abraham are preparing to bless the world

to gather Israel on both sides of the veil.

Those first two revelations really do set the stage that this is a big deal. And then section 3, this gentle reminder that mistakes will be made,

that even though divinity is reaching down, it's humanity that's reaching back up and we make mistakes and so this is a gospel of

repentance and thus a gospel of reassurance. Section three then shifts to section four

this great and marvelous work that we are engaged in.
