Hall of Fame President Jim Porter just put out a statement that would be the NFL Hall of Fame.

He said, quote, few players could rival Sonny Jurgensen's genuine love of the game that continued long after his playing days.

Whether he was standing tall in the face of an opposing lineman as a quarterback for the Eagles and Redskins for 18 seasons or later

as a beloved broadcaster in Washington for several more decades. Sunny captivated audiences

and introduced generations of fans to the sport. Watching Sunny throw a football was like watching

a master craftsman create a work of art.

If you're just joining us, Sonny Jurgensen passed away at the age of 91 years old.

And joining me now is Doc Walker, who did not play with Sunny, but certainly got to know

Sunny very well over the years.

As Sunny called games with Frank and with Sam Huff starting in 1980.

So your thoughts on a day like today, Doc?

Well, Kevin, first of all, thanks for having me.

I'm sorry it takes a tragedy for me to get on the show, but it's, um, this guy's special.

I'm going to be rejoicful because of what a thrill he was.

Yeah.

And, um, you know, you know a lot of people that in our world are in high positions of prestige.

They've earned it, and they're there.

But it's just your dog.

It's just a dude to you.

But on the outside, people flip.

Anywhere you go into anywhere with Sunny, it's like you're in Hollywood and you were the celebrity.
