He was an incredibly important basketball player,

great in college, great in the pros,

and has been coaching and running teams almost ever since.

And Doc, thank you so much for being here.

This is the through for me as well.

I love your work. Well, you it's great to hear and you

know I think a lot about leadership I think about it when I'm as a writer and as a

human being and you know running my show and you stepped up you've

been a leader for a very long time but you had to step up in a real particular way

this year and when the league and the players and the country needed you,

you really stepped into the breach.

And I have a few questions about this because I think we can all learn from it.

So one would be, how had your life up to that moment prepared you for it and then also were you aware as you were speaking the kind of impact it might have?

Well, I'll answer to the... the second first I clearly was not aware

you know Brian it was interesting I knew I had something to say I didn't know what I was going to say was going to be important or or you know relevant even

I was asked to to make a comment after or before the game about what was going on with

social justice, a police brutality and all the other things and I politely decline because we had a game and I wanted to get through the game.

Yeah. Because that's my job, you know, and I have to have my focus and do my job.

And then right after the game, I had to do it. and have to have my focus and do my job.
