So what's the best advice you've ever been given in your life?

If you could think of just a few words, a phrase, a learning moment in life that you always

come back to.

It's something that I'm asked a lot in various interviews and things like that, and something

that came up a few days back.

In some ways, I'm support for choice because I feel like there are lots of moments that

have really, really left their mark, they're normally very short, very succinct, but there

was one in particular that I was reminded of.

I was in between two different monasteries, and it's a strange thing to say, so it has

between relationships or between jobs at the time.

I was between monasteries at the time.

Anyway, I was thinking of becoming a monk in a new monastery, and I wanted to travel and

see the teacher, and I'd end up traveling by plane and train and by bus, and it had taken

about 24 hours of traveling to get there.

This was before email, and I got there, and when I arrived, I was told that the teacher

that I'd gone to see had had to go away.

I was literally there for the day, and then I had to get back and get another plane, and

I was, I think, understandably, rather disappointed in thinking, what am I going to do?

And they said, it's okay, though.
