0:41.6	Thank you, Patrick. It's good to be with you. I look forward to talking with you. I have to say you
0:46.3	wrote a book a while back. It was the first book I read by you called The Mission of God's
0:49.6	people and it had a major impact on how I think about who God is and what his calling is both for me,
0:55.6	but for the community that I'm a part of here who call ourselves Christians.
0:59.4	And so I've always been grateful for your work.
1:01.9	And I really enjoyed this new book so I want to hop
1:03.8	right into some questions and get your feedback. So Idol that's in the title of the
1:09.5	book and it's not a word that we use very often today unless we're talking about pop stars or
1:13.8	maybe personal heroes and when most people read about idols in the Bible we think
1:17.9	of those tiny little fertility statues that maybe we saw on a high school trip to the
1:22.3	local history museum,
1:23.5	which means that idols don't have much to do with life in the 21st century in America.
1:28.0	So will you tell us what are idols in the Bible and how do they actually connect to our lives today?
