0:10.6	I'm Patrick Miller, and right now we're going through the Book of Exodus.
0:14.7	A few nights ago I tucked my daughter in and as I left the room she started crying
0:19.7	which is honestly super unusual but a friend at school had been mean to her that day
0:26.0	and her emotions were just running high.
0:27.9	She was kind of unwinding there in bed.
0:30.5	And so I went back in and I asked her,
0:32.3	hey, why are you crying?
0:34.0	There were tears. She just told me, I don't even know.
0:37.0	I don't know what's going on. I don't know why I feel this way.
0:40.0	And so I took her little face in my hands and I looked her right in the eyes and I said,
0:45.0	I love you, Iris. You know I love you, right?
0:50.0	And she started to cry even harder and she said to me,
0:52.9	how do I know you love me?
0:55.0	Now, these are moments that at least as a parent
0:57.3	kind of break your heart in a fraction of a second
0:59.8	you began to question your entire parenting style.
1:02.2	Because I mean, how could my daughter ever
1:03.8	even wonder if I love her of course she has to know that I love her and it seems crazy
1:08.6	when I think about it I want to say you know I love you because I make your lunch and your dinner I
1:13.8	clothe you I read stories to you every night I teach you I laugh with you I
