0:19.2	the New Testament together. Today we start in the Gospel of Luke, which is my favorite of the four Gospels.
0:25.6	Now before we dive into chapter one, I want to give you five fast facts about Luke.
0:30.0	One, Luke was a physician who accompanied Paul on some of his missionary journeys.

0:35.9	Luke is the only Gentile or non-J Jew to write one of the four Gospels.

0:40.8	Luke's Gospel is the longest Gospel. 4. Luke's Gospel is the longest Gospel.
0:43.2	4. Luke's Gospel is the only one with a sequel,
0:46.4	and that is the Book of Acts.
0:47.8	Luke wrote that too.
0:49.4	Five, Luke's Gospel has a special emphasis on women and the poor.
0:54.0	So now in Luke chapter one, Luke is going to show us two ways that we can respond to Jesus.
1:00.0	Two ways we can respond to God's promises. Very early in Jesus, two ways we can respond to God's promises.
1:03.6	Very early in chapter one, we meet a priest named Zecoriah
1:07.6	who is married to a woman named Elizabeth,
1:10.0	and we're told in verse six that they are both upright in the sight of God.
1:13.8	They observe all the Lord's commands.
1:16.1	But verse seven tells us they don't have children.
1:18.8	That's because Elizabeth was barren and they were both well along in years.
