Summary

A gentle and quiet spirit isn’t weakness. It is strength under God’s control. It reflects trust in His sovereignty, not striving to be seen or heard. This kind of beauty doesn’t fade with age. It is lasting, Christlike, and precious in God’s sight (1 Peter 3:3–4).⁣⁣If you’re struggling to cultivate this spirit in your own life, you’re not alone. Ask the Lord to grow it in you. Spend time in His Word. Look to Christ. He is gentle and lowly in heart, and He is faithful to complete the work He begins in us.⁣ Head over to ThankfulHomemaker.com for full show notes on all the links and resources mentioned in today's episode.  Free Encouraging Your Husband PDF Homemaking Matters: Living for God's Glory in the Ordinary by Marci Ferrell RESOURCES: Join Thankful Homemaker for access to the Free Library of Resources Follow ThankfulHomemaker on Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest & Instagram Join the Thankful Homemaker Facebook Group Subscribe to the Podcast on Your Favorite App  Online Courses & Printables Thankful Homemaker Merchandise Buy Marci a Cup of Coffee xo  ⁣

So grab yourself a coffee or tea and sit with me a bit as we talk about how God's

0:22.0

word impacts every area of our lives as Christian women. Hello, friend. I'm Marcy Farrell

0:28.0

from Thankful Homemaker, and I'm so glad to be with you today. This is episode 182, and we're

0:34.5

asking the question, do you have a meek and quiet spirit? It's a question that takes

0:40.4

us to something that God deeply values in the hearts of his daughters, a gentle and quiet spirit.

0:46.3

Again, this isn't about personality or being soft-spoken, but it's about trust, and peace,

0:51.6

and a heart that's anchored in the Lord. We're going to look at what God's word

0:55.1

says and how this spirit reflects Christ, and how we can pursue this imperishable beauty that doesn't

1:01.8

fade with time. 1. Peter 3.3.4 tells us, do not let your adorning be external, the braiding of hair

1:08.8

and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear,

1:12.3

but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle

1:17.7

and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. Peter's words there, they give us a

1:24.4

beautiful contrast between the world's view of beauty and gods, because the world

1:28.9

emphasizes outward appearance, hairstyles, clothing, accessories. But the Lord is interested in something

1:34.6

far more lasting, the hidden person of the heart. And it's not that Peter is forbidding jewelry or

1:40.1

nice clothes, but he's reminding us that true beauty, the kind that matters to God,

1:46.3

is found in a heart adorned with Christ-like character. Imperishable beauty, it's a reminder

1:52.6

that this outer self of ours is wasting away day by day. But the beauty of a gentle and quiet

1:58.6

spirit doesn't wrinkle or fade with time. It's incorruptible.

2:02.6

And that means this kind of beauty, it lasts into eternity. Even the placement of this passage in
