Hello friends. I just did a really quick Instagram reel on this and I thought I have to do a pod too.

Do you ever think about when you feel sad or when you feel negative emotion when you're

upset do you ever have that feeling of I really shouldn't complain other people

have it so much worse.

Sometimes this is called the hierarchy of suffering, as Lori Gottlie describes it.

It was so good.

But so often, right, we think, oh I shouldn't complain because her problem is so much worse or he's suffering so much more than I am.

Laurie Gottlie gives the example of saying women often say to her, you know, I just had a miscarriage.

That woman lost her eight-year-old child that's so much worse why should I be

why should I make this about me why should I be in so much pain why should I make this such a

big deal and Lori says no there is no hierarchy of suffering there is no comparison here

comparison is not required it's futile useless, it's not appropriate in any way.

So I want to flip the script for a second here, my friends, okay?

Just so we can understand how nonsensical it is for us to compare our suffering, okay?

And judge our suffering.

Imagine if someone gave me a cupcake today, right?

And I'm like, yay, I got a cupcake today right and I'm like yay I got a cupcake I love cupcakes

imagine if someone said to me why are you happy about that I've got five cupcakes oh and her over there she's got 10. Oh and over right over there he's got 20

Wait her over over there. She's got a whole cupcake shop

You really want to be happy when he just got one cupcake? Think about it.
