I got to the twin boys who were 14 and we love watching Patty my homes.

I mean doesn't get much better than that. So even though we love the Vikings, we got to enjoy the chiefs.

D groups is what we call them at Furman University.

They were life changing for me and I hope that you guys will engage

in the D group opportunities here.

25 years ago, believe it or not, I was a college student at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

I had grown up in church.

I had made a profession of faith and was baptized growing up and God bless me with a really

good home church that taught me the gospel and taught could trust the Bible and that meant everything

when I went off to college. However, looking back on it now at that freshman year, I can see that something was missing in my Christianity.

There was a deep struggle in my soul in those days because I wanted to be happy and I felt guilty for wanting

it.

I suspected that this ache to be happy was more of a liability to the

Christian life than an asset. So living the Christian life, I assumed,

was about my ability to put aside

what I really wanted to do

so that I would do the will of God.

Your will be done, not mine.

I know that you too want to be happy and you can't escape it.

All of your life, you've been trying to satisfy that deep down longing for real joy. You try to do it through

finding the perfect possession or finding the perfect spouse

enjoying good food, knowing influential people
