What is up everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening podcast. I'm Kevin and this week as usual I'm here with Stephen

We're talking today about how do you prepare a garden plot. Let's say you want to start gardening or you want to expand your

garden and you want to have you know the best soil that you can have the best

chance to grow the best plants possible. Well how do you actually go about doing that?

And this is something that Stephen faced firsthand,

because when he moved into his plot,

the plot he's living on and farming on,

it's a quarter acre,

and you really couldn't grow a whole lot in that soil.

And so over the course of six months to a year, he radically transformed the soil.

And so I'm going to let him come in and talk about how he did that and then also how you might do something similar in your own yard if you want to make that transformation as well.

So when I arrived to my garden plot where I started there was nothing there.

It was a barren, I don't want to say wasteland, but just, you know, old weeds.

There was an old shed in the corner, which I eventually used the roof for my chicken coop.

You know, there's just, um, it was totally disorganized in a mess.

So I started from Ground Zero, and so I knew I needed to get fertility into my soil

and I didn't want to spend a ton of money to do it but I also wanted to do it

organically and 100% naturally.

So I was left with a few different incredible options.

Nature always leaves us with the best options.

And that's something that I'm always focusing on at nature's always right.

So to get my garden area ready, what I did was, the first thing I did was a sheet mulch.
