A Georgia man has been arrested in a cold case rape and murder of a young woman over 40 years ago.

68-year-old Freddie Lee Granger Jr. was charged with one count of rape, malice murder, aggravated assault, and two counts of felony murder in the death of Sandra K. Davis.

Davis was just 22 years old when authorities discovered her body next to a home on Collick Street in Waycross, September 1st, 1984. She had been strangled to death. Local officials investigated the case, but it went cold for decades. In the years since, officials say they've continued to follow leads and look for the truth behind Davis's killing. And thanks to advances in DNA testing, authorities say they found their link.

Granger was arrested March 31st, but while an arrest has been made,

the investigation into Davis's death remains active and ongoing,

and police are continuing to ask for anyone with information in the case to come forward.
