Hello and welcome to the Retro Hour podcast episode number 106, your weekly dose of retro gaming

and technology news with me, Dan Wood. And me, Ravi Abbott. After a pretty manic week, I think it's fair to say. Oh, yeah, I was DJing on the Friday night, and then we were doing a panel in the morning. So I had to kind of deal with that hangover, and we got in and talked to them. But what a panel it was. Now, this was All Your Bass Festival in Nottingham.

1:12.2

We were there on the Saturday morning and despite the fact that it was a grey, wet, cold January morning. Still a good turnout though, I think. Yeah, when we turned up, we had the kind of tropical sounds of David Wise doing the Donkey Kong destructed, yeah, deconstructed, it was great. And then after that we did a little panel. I mean, this festival was all about music,

1:13.9

and it was the first one they've done.

1:45.5

Um, deconstructed, yeah, deconstructed. It was great. And then after that we did a little panel. I mean, this festival was all about music and it was the first one they've done. We were there. We actually did a live recording of the retro hour podcast with that Rob Hubbard. Oh my God, yeah, Graham Norgate. Yeah, David Wise, he came in and joined us halfway through as well. So essentially we got to sit down with these three legends and just talk about video game music. And they're all from different time periods as well because you've got like David Wise doing Donkey Kong country. You've got Graham doing killer instinct. Golden I. Yeah, yeah. And then you've got Rob doing all the really early stuff that's E-64 and all that. So it's a great range of guests. And we're actually going to be putting that as our interview next week.

1:49.1

Yeah, absolutely. And Graham actually says in it that, you know, Rob was kind of his inspiration.

1:56.9

Yeah. So that was like kind of, you know, great to get them all together. So if you are fan of video game music from all generations, I mean, that's the thing about this show.

1:58.2

I mean, we do kind of say in this panel,

2:00.4

we kind of cover everything from like the ZX81 up to the PlayStation 2.

2:02.1

Yeah.

2:02.5

And audio develops so, I mean, you do kind of say in this panel, we kind of cover everything from like the ZX81 up to the PlayStation 2.

2:02.1

Yeah. And audio develops so, I mean, you know, the ZX81 didn't have any audio. The changes were so fast, you know, even David Wise was saying, oh, we were excited that we got MIDI. Yeah. It was like years later when. Yeah, so definitely look out for that on next week's show. we're bringing that panel that we recorded live at All Your Bass Festival.

2:19.4

And of course, there's something else rather big on the calendar coming up next month. Oh, yeah, we've got Play Expo coming up and, oh my God, the YouTubers panel, the DMA panel, or the Spectrum panel, this is just going to be amazing. You know, this would be our fourth Play Exo. And I think this is, the lineup is probably my favourite yet. Yeah, yeah. It's going to be great. I'd turn up and watch these people if I wasn't on the stage. Absolutely. Now, we are going to be doing, I mean, we're still sorting out the days. They should be confirmed any day now. What's going to be happening? You just spill your tea everywhere. Thank you, Luke. Cleaner frowning through the window, but we are going to confirm
