If you're not in a good mood, if you're not feeling upbeat about this hockey team at this juncture of this season,

it is time to find another hobby, another passion, another something, because this is what

it's all about.

I will see hockey fans get as much or even more stoked about a trade deadline than they will about their

team getting into the playoffs. And I don't understand that, not even in Pittsburgh where we were

spoiled by it for a decade and a half, where it was just, oh, yeah. I remember going into the locker room.

I was actually just telling Ben Kindle this story up in Elmont.

This was before the game against the Islanders.

I used to walk into that room and have to tell players that they just made the playoffs.

They legitimately didn't know because they'd been in first place or something like that for

months and they didn't know when the math hit.

It's not that they didn't care.

It's just that it was such an afterthought.

It won't be for these guys.

This is what they've wanted.

This is what they've trained for, what they've played for,

what they came together for going back to last September,

and one of the best training camps I've ever covered in any sport,

certainly from the intangible component.
