Have I mentioned yet that Cal is my dude? No? Well, guess what? Okay, I have. Here's the thing.

Cal isn't just my dude. Otherwise, this would really be a pretty vapid episode. Cal also happens to be

Arthur Smith's dude. And I'm not guessing at that.

Smith has a vision for Austin as a W.R. 3 that would probably belie what most people would think of as the definition of that very specific position in an offense.

It does not signify where he ranks on the depth chart.

It doesn't mean that there's two guys better than him.

Although maybe there will be two guys better than him by the time Omar Khan's done.

What it means is that's where he's going to line up. That's how he's going to get used.

And if, in fact, Khan can get that W.R. 2, and I happen to believe that he will based on some stuff that I've heard, then you're going to see Austin utilized in a way

that well
