on one hand it's tantalizing it really is the news yesterday that major league baseball including

notably rob manfred are trying to pressure Stu Sternberg to sell the race.

I mean, it sounds like, pun intended, a ray of hope for Pittsburgh.

But then, on the other hand, good morning to you.

I don't mean to get you excited, but I have a feeling that some already are or would be once they hear about this.

But, well, let's first go over what the situation is in St. Petersburg, Florida, where Sternberg and the rays have been at odds with the Pinellas County public officials seemingly forever over how to either manage their stadium and then once their stadium got blown apart, how to replace it, whether they're going to move into downtown St. Pete as opposed to kind of being in the back end where they are now,

whether they'll move up to Tampa, which by the way is not really close at all to St. Pete

or even out to Orlando.

And Sternberg has been at such odds with the local government there that it's kind of being seen as there's no way

this will work now. There's no way they'll find an agreement in large part because of personality

clashes. So what does this have to do with the broader scope of Major League Baseball? And why would

Major League Baseball and Manfred, as well as several owners, according to this news, be trying to push Sternberg out as a result.

The answer to that is, well, there's a small one and there's a big one.

The small one is, as I've heard many, many times, including from people within the pirates,

Sternberg has never played nice with league officials, other owners.

He's just not been one of those guys.

And they don't like that. And when they don't like that, they don one of those guys. And they don't like that.

And when they don't like that, they don't like you.
