But at the same time, let's not underplay what's probably the most positive acquisition slash transactions slash personnel, anything that we've seen out of the

Park. That completed the series, with San Diego taking two of three. That completed the

homestand. The pirates now heading out to Wrigley Field after today's day off. And I ain't not much to say about the game.

Mitch Keller was terrific, put up six eggs, and didn't get any run support, scoreless.

Then Justin Lawrence gave up four runs, and then Jose Orkitti gave up four runs,

and neither of those is a surprise.

And offensively, Nick York, three for three with a walk, so obviously reaching base

safely four times. That's nice for him. And yeah, whatever. What happened that was infinitely

more significant on the day happened before the game.

That was the very early morning announcement that the team and Connor Griffin had reached agreement on a nine-year $140 million extension, which means that, yes, ESPN's

Buster only had it right several days ago, and no, Buster no longer needs to live on the

reporter's island that I was referencing on yesterday's program.

Because, you know, either the information was going to be proven correct,

or there were at least going to be other reporters reporting the same thing.

So Buster Islands now has a much greater population. This all happened around

about eight in the morning with the pirates having a 1235 first pitch, a business person's matinee.

But everybody seemed all alive and peppy and smiling and the rest of Griffin's teammates
