The crazy thing about a coaching search for a team like this is that there's two completely polar extremes of the type of player.

I guess you could call this days one, two, or three, depending on your count of Kyle Dubus's search to replace Mike Sullivan.

Based on the criteria that Dubus laid out in his exhaustive press conference Monday,

it would be easy to discern that he's looking for somebody who first and foremost can develop,

who can rise up with a group of kids, who get the most out of them and all that sounds good

up until you consider that they've also got to deal with these people named sydney crosbie

guinea malkin chris latang brian rust, Eric Carlson, and in all five of those cases,

all of those individuals will know way more about, well, really, everything in hockey,

than they conceivably could, never mind hockey at the NHL level.

So you can cite examples as Dubus did the other day, like Spencer Carberry in Washington.

Carberry has a bold demeanor about him.

He has an authoritativeness just about his presence, certainly for a younger guy.

I'm not around the Oilers anywhere near as much as I am around the capitals, but Chris

Knoblock appears to have a similar feel to him.

He's youngish.
