The NHL's schedule doesn't lend itself to the sort of hyper-microscopic analysis that we tend to see with that of the NFL.

But it's worth a closer look.

You already knew that the season was going to

open September 30 on the road, where else, but in Philadelphia to suit the national TV networks,

and that it would open at home on that Saturday, that's October 3rd, against the Canadian's.

Which you didn't know was almost all the rest of it, and that was released by the league

yesterday afternoon.

And there are a couple of quirks to it worth yellow highlighting even this early.

Chief among them, I'd say, that there are 15 sets of back-to-back games.

Now, that's one fewer than they had this past season, but it's still number one in the

NHL.

And you can say, wow, what a great injustice.

How terrible that is.

What a shame.
