Folks when your tent is swaying and bending like a drunken hula dancer and the wind is popping

the fly over it with a sound like a machine gun.

You know you've cut yourself into a situation where you shouldn't be

and probably made a bad choice of equipment and possibly even procedure.

And that's what I want to talk about today.

This podcast episode is coming to you from the field on day six of my solo

Caribou hunt in Alaska in 2020 and I'm not sure when this will err, but I want to talk about some mistakes I've made for this hunt and how you can avoid making the same mistake.

So let's dive in with equipment first and then talk about mental approach and

expectations. I've written a little list here on the Alaska State Regulations that I brought with me, the

hunting regs.

So I've got a few things I want to cover, but I don't have my typical outline that I like to create before a podcast episode.

And so my apologies if it's a little bit fractured and doesn't flow as well as usual.

We'll see where it goes. Anyway, also if you hear any wind or rain drops that's

because there's wind and rain outside the tent on occasion.

Right at the moment, sun is shining,

making the tent glow though, which is quite nice.

It's been a day of a lot of fast moving clouds with gaps in between.

The sun comes and goes and occasionally a few raindrops spit down.

The wind has been slowly dying off through the day and I have hopes that it'll be quiet tonight

I can get a better night's rest.

So on that note, I brought a very good tent, but I didn't bring the right tent.
