Look with me in Ephesians, the fourth chapter and 1 Corinthians the 11th chapter.

Ephesians 4, 1 Corinthians 11.

And we've been talking about discerning the body of Christ.

In Ephesians, the fourth chapter,

Ephesians chapter 4, and why don't you mark both of these places

because we'll be going back and forth between them in all likelihood.

In Ephesians 4, verse 15 and 16, it says,

But speaking the truth in love may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ,

from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supply it, according to the

effectual working in the measure of every part, makeeth increase of the body unto the edifying

of itself in love.

And also looking with me now in 1st Corinthians, that 11th chapter, and the 29th verse, the latter portion

of the verse, talked about the fact that these people at the church at Corinth were not

discerning the Lord's body. In the words, they weren't understanding the Lord's body.

Didn't have a proper sense of the body, one translation says.

And verse 30 said, for this cause, many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep, or many have died prematurely.

And we see here that many in the church at Corinth had been affected adversely.

They were weak, sickly.

Many had died prematurely.

And he tells us the reason why is because they did not properly and rightly discern,

which means to see and understand and perceive the body of Christ.
