Dr. Paul Ray, hopefully the first of many times we talked because this was just not long enough.

He's a professor of history at Hillsdale College.

Music I want to go to Dr. Paul Ray. He's a professor of history, one of the great professors of history,

and he's director for the Center of Military History and Strategy at Hillsdale College. Dr. Ray,

how are you, sir? Just fine. It's great to talk to you. I wanted to, I guess, we only have about 18 minutes.

There's a million things I want to talk to you about.

I'd love to talk about Sparta, honestly, for the next 18 minutes.

But maybe we can fit it in at the end a little bit.

We can shoehorn it in.

But I want to talk about Iran.

What do we need to know about the history of this region, of these people, some insight that you think

people are missing about this area?

Okay.

Let me start with two things.

The Iranians aren't Arabs.

They speak an Indo-European language that we can trace back all the way to the

achymenids

uh... the second thing is they are not sunni muslims
