Hello, my friends. Happy Saturday. Welcome back to the morning mindset. I hope you're

ready to get your mind aligned with the truth of God. And today I'm going to begin something

I have not attempted on the morning mindset before. And that is a sort of character study.

Meaning, we're going to be looking at the life of an individual, rather than going

verse by verse through passages to complete an entire book. We're doing so partly because

I think we all need good examples. And the Bible is full of them, both good examples

in a bad way, meaning people who show us what not to do in our lives, and then good examples

in a good way. Today I want to look at one of the latter. I want to look at the life

of Daniel. The Daniel is one of those characters who we find in the Old Testament scriptures

who was thrust into a situation that was very difficult for him and for his people. And

yet, in the midst of the difficulties, we find Daniel living a life that stands apart,

a life that is exemplary in so many ways. And we're going to dig into that a little bit.

But before we get there, let's talk a little bit about the context in the history so that

you understand the situation in which we find Daniel and his friends. Now, in the biblical

story, we all know that back at the beginning was the creation, the Garden of Eden, Adam

and Eve and all of that. And if we're going to do a quick run through history up to the

point of Daniel, well, we're going to we're going to pass Adam and Eve, obviously, we're

going to pass Noah and the flood. We're going to pass Moses and the people of Israel

escaping from Egypt. We're going to pass the time of the judges and then the establishment

of the kingdoms under the kingships of Saul and David and all of the Jewish kings. And

it's at the very end of that long history of kings where Daniel's story comes in. We're

going to begin reading in Daniel chapter one, verse number one, it says in the third year
