DISORDER COAST TO COAST: 2/8: The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America by Victor Davis Hanson

In The Dying Citizen, Hanson outlines the historical forces that led to this crisis. The evisceration of the middle class over the last fifty years has made many Americans dependent on the federal government. Open borders have undermined the idea of allegiance to a particular place. Identity politics have eradicated our collective civic sense of self. And a top-heavy administrative state has endangered personal liberty, along with formal efforts to weaken the Constitution.

but meat packing, hospitality, restaurants, hotels, etc. We're willing to open the borders

1:49.8

to get cheap labor and then the left said we want new constituents because our agenda basically

1:56.0

is no longer appealing to 51% of the people. So we brought in since that act about 50 million people

2:04.8

and we have now a continual pull, they go in and out, people become legal residents or

2:13.1

then citizens, but we have about 50 million people who are not born in the United States and California
